Comprehensive email security package incorporates multiple virus engines to block email threats; also provides exploit detection, threats analysis and email content checking
London, UK, 30 May 2002 - GFI MailSecurity, GFI's new email security package for Exchange and SMTP servers, has been awarded anti-virus certification from ICSA Labs. The certification provides independent confirmation that GFI MailSecurity for Exchange/SMTP protects networks against email viruses.
ICSA Labs is universally recognized for its security product testing. To achieve ICSA Anti-Virus Product Certification, GFI MailSecurity had to pass ICSA Labs' rigorous virus detection tests to identify viruses that cause infection in the real world and other email viruses. The testing procedure will be repeated regularly to ensure continued compliance to ICSA's standards.
"The certification from ICSA Labs demonstrates that, through its combination of multiple anti-virus engines, an email exploit shield, a threats engine, and email content and attachment checking, GFI MailSecurity delivers powerful protection against email viruses and attacks," said Nick Galea, GFI CEO.
"ICSA's certification of GFI MailSecurity's anti-virus capabilities gives security administrators assurance from an independent third-party that the product provides effective defense against viruses," said Larry Bridwell, content security program manager at ICSA Labs, an independent division of TruSecure Corporation.
GFI MailSecurity - which was also awarded the West Coast Labs Checkmark anti-virus certification - includes Norman Virus Control, 16-time winner of the Virus Bulletin 100% award, and SOFTWIN's BitDefender, which holds ICSA certification for Windows XP. The McAfee virus scanning engine can be added for an additional charge. This enables users to run multiple virus engines simultaneously, eliminating dependence on one vendor and providing maximum protection against new virus assaults.
GFI MailSecurity also includes:
- An industry-first exploit shield that protects users from current and future email viruses and attacks that use known exploits;
- An email threats engine to analyse & defuse HTML scripts, .exe files and more; and
- An email content and attachment checking module that quarantines dangerous emails.
