Mail essentials integrates with anti-virus engine from Norman
Oslo, London, 27 March 2000 - GFI and Norman today announced that they have teamed up to integrate the Norman Virus Engine with GFI's email security gateway, Mail essentials.
Through this seamless integration with Norman Virus Control, Mail essentials users will receive automatic anti-virus updates and searching facilities from Norman. Additionally, virus detection can be conducted from the Mails essentials configuration and therefore also from within Exchange Administrator.
"Thanks to the Mail essentials integration with the Norman anti-virus engine, consumers can now enjoy extra value. For the price of a normal email anti virus gateway, customers will receive not only the anti-virus module but also a wide range of other useful features that form an integral part of Mail essentials. These include content filtering, anti-spam measures, disclaimers, server-based encryption, email management and more," Nick Galea, GFI President, pointed out.
Tor-Aksel Froeyland, Vice President - Research & Development at Norman ASA, commented: "We are pleased that Mail essentials, one of the leading content security packages, has developed a seamless integration with our virus engine. Norman Virus Control is one of the fastest virus-checking tools in the industry, enabling Mail essentials to provide users with highly efficient anti-virus detection."
The Norman virus engine is the product that received most "100% awards" from the magazine Virus Bulletin that only issues this award to virus control products which find 100% of all viruses "in the wild" in its comparative tests. Apart from winning various other awards, the Norman virus detector is also certified by the ICSA and West Coast Labs, an independent organization that checks the quality of virus products.
Mail essentials for Exchange/SMTP is an email content security and anti-virus gateway that removes all types of email-borne threats before they can affect an organization's email users.
