The latest build also supports the next generation in IP addressing, IPv6.

Windows Server 2008 is the most advanced Windows Server operating system, designed to power the next-generation of networks, applications, and Web services. The latest build allows administrators to run the software in Windows Server 2008 environments.

Another new feature in this build is support for Ipv6. Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is a network layer for packet-switched networks and is the successor of Ipv4, the current protocol in use. Using Ipv6 allows for a much larger IP address space and therefore greater flexibility in assigning IP addresses.
